  • Distribution of moving image files

In the moving image distribution services currently available, distribution of moving image files stored in a server at a contents holder are distributed mainly by streaming in response to a user's request. On the other hand, transaction of moving image files among users is performed very frequently by using software for sharing files. The "Cmix moving image product distribution model" assumes the two modes of moving image file distribution as described above.
  • In the "Cmix moving image product distribution model", distributed moving image files are managed by the patented technique as described above.

As described above, transaction of moving image files among users is very active, but the transaction is illegal in most cases and is performed without paying any attention to "copyright of the contents holders", which gives substantial damages to rights and benefits of the contents holders.
  • The "Cmix video product distribution model" was invented in the light of the circumstances as described above, and with this model, even illegal transaction of moving image files among users is turned into chances for creation of new businesses.

In the "Cmix moving image product distribution model", a user hoping to reproduce a moving image product distributed through the system always returns to a web page specified by the contents holder.

In the "Cmix moving image product distribution model", a contents holder divides a moving image file to two files, each of which can not be reproduced singly, and releases only one of the divided files on the Internet. The released one is a major portion of the moving image file, and users can freely acquired to released files.

When a user wants to view the moving image product file as a whole, the user is required to acquire the other divided portion of the moving image file. This remaining portion of the moving image file is managed in a server at the contents holder.

In the "Cmix moving image product distribution model", the server at the contents holder automatically detects a request from a user having acquired a major portion of a moving image product and the user's attributes. Then the server decides CM elements suited to the user, encrypts the remaining small portion of the video file with the CM elements, and distributes the file to the user.

In the "Cmix moving image product distribution model", information for the web page specified by the contents holder is included in the CM elements, and the web page is used as a platform for reproduction of the moving image file. At the same time, the CM elements are distributed to the user's terminal. The CM elements are used as key factors for encrypting a small portion of the moving image file to be reproduced, and therefore the user can reproduce the entire moving image file only when the CM elements are received at the user's terminal.

Fig. Extendability

The technique for dividing a moving image file in the Cmix system makes it more difficult to decrypted the encrypted file as compared to the existing DRM, which makes it difficult for users to illegally acquire moving image files each as a complete product.
